Distributed ledger technology (DLT) is a digital system for keeping and managing the record of sender IDs and template. TRAI has introduced an advanced extension of the Blockchain – Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to prevent spam.
Guidelines for Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) for Enterprises
Enterprises need to register with the Operator’s DLT platform by submitting necessary business documents. Enterprises need to select a Registered Telemarketer (RTM) and permit them to perform functions on their behalf.
Enterprises need to acquire consent from consumers (mobile subscribers) through SMS, Web or Mobile App and upload them on the DLT platform. It is mandatory for any entity that intends to send a communication through messaging and voice gateway on the DLT platforms.
Telemarketers and end-users have to register on the DLT platforms separately.
Header (Sender ID) registration: Messages are classified into promotional, transactional, service explicit and service implicit which are registered and every header gets a unique Header ID that is shared across other DLT platforms seamlessly. All headers and templates on the platform should be registered.
Content Template Registration: Entities are required to register all their templates on the DLT system. Every template gets a unique Template ID that is shared across other DLT platforms uniformly.

Insights on New TRAI SMS Regulation Implementation
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently released a notification for the Bulk SMS industry. As per the recent guidelines, it is mandatory for a company to register on the DLT platform before sending Bulk SMS to its customers and clients.
A Business Entity has to register itself on the DLT portal, register Sender IDs, submit message templates, and get their approval before sending Bulk SMS. We suggest you to complete the DLT registration process as soon as possible else your messages will get failed and may not be delivered.
Steps for Entity / User DLT Registration
Step 1
Register for DLT, with all required documents and details; Please carefully follow all the process mentioned in the doc HERE.
Step 2
After Doing KYC with operators, kindly do the Header (Sender Id) registration; Follow these docs for help Ping Connect | VILPower.
Step 3
After receiving Entity Id from any of the operators [Videocon (PingConnect), Idea-Vodafone (VILPower), Airtel, TATA, MTNL, BSNL], kindly follow the doc HERE.
Steps for Telemarketer / Reseller DLT Registration
Step 1
Register for DLT, with all required documents and details; Please carefully follow all the process mentioned in the doc HERE.
Step 2
All users/ Entity under you have to register as an Entity; You can share this Process Doc with them.
Step 3
After receiving Telemarketer Id from any of the operators [Videocon (PingConnect), Idea-Vodafone (VILPower), Airtel, TATA, MTNL, BSNL], kindly follow the doc HERE.
